The Stranger Things 4 Finale Was A Hell Of A Good Finish To A Great Season Of TV
Now that everyone has had 10 days to watch the last two episodes of Stranger Things 4, which to be fair is about enough time to watch what was damn near two full length movies during a holiday week, Robbie and I decided to hop it was time to hop into the basement to break everything down.
Since I am a blogger at heart that doesn't believe in posting a video and running, here are some of my quick thoughts on the episode. We'll have a full season recap coming with KFC later this week so subscribe to My Mom's Basement on Apple or Spotify to get it as soon as it drops.
- Let me start off by saying I liked but didn't love the finale. I LOVED the Volume 1 finale or whatever the Duffer Brothers called Episode 7 where we find out that Fuckface at Hawkins Lab is actually Vecna banished to the Upside Down by Eleven and Hopper fights the demogorgon.
I also have to admit that I watched this episode while I was away on vacation and the vacation house had that setting on their TV where everything looks like a soap opera, which kinda killed the whole serious, scary vibe that Stranger Things usually operates in, but didn't change it because I was watching it with some friends and I don't know if I'm the only person who still watches TV the old fashioned way. Regardless, fuck that stupid setting.
Here is a quick How To guide to get it off your TV if you can't figure it out.
Name another site that breaks down TV shows while also teaching you how to adjust your TV's video settings. You can't.
- As for the actual show, let me show you how a woman that smuggled herself in the Soviet Union and a man that spent the last God knows how many months in a Russian prison would act the first moment they were alone together after getting changed.
That room would stink like sex so much, they'd be able to smell it at the Berlin Wall.
- Nancy Wheeler: Confirmed still a bad mamma jamma.
Ms. Wheeler may be ride or die as they come, but Steve is still out of his fucking mind casually dropping that he wants to throw six babies in her when they aren't even dating, no matter how good his hair looks.
Then again, Jonathan went from a relatively major supporting character to a stoner that mixed some water and salt for his brothers friend. Not sure he deserves a queen like Nancy Wheeler, even though the actor who plays him landed her.
- Shout out to the actor that plays Lucas putting on an absolute clinic on crying by leaking out of his eyes for what seemed like hours.
Best crying performance I've seen since Knowshon Moreno, bar none.
- I also gotta shout out the actor that played Eddie for his rendition of Master of Puppets.
You know you crushed a performance when the band you covered does a duet with you.
Eddie's Performance: Confirmed Metal
- I know people complaining about a piece of content imposing their views on a controversial topic is played out in 2022. But I will NOT stand for pineapple on pizza to not be weird.
JK, I don't really care
- I know that the Duffers already killed Bob, Alexei, and even that nice guy Benny that fed Eleven at his burger joint back in season 1. But fuuuuuuck did that Eddie death hurt and feel unnecessary considering a storyline where he's alive in a town with a gorge to hell exists would make an entertaining dynamic. I guess every season we are going to get one new beloved character that's going to get taken from us too soon and Eddie signed his own death certificate by saying he's not a hero in the beginning of the episode, so I'll have my head on a swivel during Season 5.
Rest In Peace King, wherever you may be.
I promise I will never utter that sentence again if you buy a Hellfire Club shirt (Every Hellfire Club shirt purchased is a prayer for the soul of our sweet, sweet Edward).
- I feel like Eleven held off on kicking Vecna's ass until Mike said he loved her. If so, bravo to her.
- Ms. Kelly: Still Sus. Maybe more sus than ever imho because they mentioned her but never showed her.
Again, we are going to have a MEGAPOD with KFC and potentially some special guests recapping all of Stranger Things 4 later this week.
